This summer, On The Mission returns to Japan with a renewed vision and a powerful theme: All In: A Journey To Be Your Best.

At OTM, our mission is simple but profound — bringing hope and joy to the world through basketball. But for us, basketball is never just about the game. It is a platform. It is a bridge. It is a way to reach hearts, build character, and inspire purpose.

We believe something powerful: when you grow into the best version of yourself off the court — in your character, your confidence, and your purpose — excellence on the court naturally follows. When a young athlete understands that they were made for something greater than themselves, it unlocks a belief system that changes everything. It gives them courage. It gives them resilience. It gives them vision that stretches beyond limits.

And that belief can carry them far beyond basketball.

This summer marks our ninth year serving in Japan. Over the years, we have built lifelong friendships with players, coaches, and communities. What excites us even more than competition or training sessions is the opportunity to connect on a deeper level — to listen, to encourage, to serve, and to grow together.

We are looking for coaches and staff who are ready to go all in — who are passionate about excellence, committed to servant leadership, and eager to build meaningful relationships that transcend culture and language.

OTM 2026 Trip Details

  • dates: July 24-August 10

  • Cost: $3000 (Flight + $2000)

    • Includes OTM gear, food, hotel/Airbnb, transportation, and other expenses

    • Flights will be purchased by each individual (usually around $800-1100)

    • All donations + flights will be tax-deductible (flight costs will be reimbursed once fundraising is complete [$1900-2200 + cost of flight≈$3000])

  • Fundraising: Each individual will fundraise $3000 to pay for the aforementioned costs. Individuals may fundraise for flights and will be reimbursed upon completing fundraising. All donations and flights are tax-deductible.

  • Itinerary: camps in Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagano, Shizuoka, and Okayama. daily devotionals. Building Relationships. Attend local church events. Play basketball with locals. Visit local sites. Tokyo sightseeing.

We are looking for coaches, translators, and social media staff to join our team. Please apply if you have experience in organizational basketball (coaching or playing), are fluent in conversational Japanese, or if you have experience in posting for social media business accounts. The most important part is that you are responsible, can have fun, and enjoy encouraging others!
